“SURE.”
Asimos would’ve smiled up at him, but lacking a mouth, instead he took Lumace’s hand and gave it a soft squeeze, waiting for him to finish up the rest of the charcoal before leading him back along the winding dark corridors. This trip took a bit more time, culminating in a spiraling staircase, but eventually it led to a large, open circular room, the ceiling made entirely of glass. This let the moonlight and ocean water cast sparkling light down upon a rather comfortable reading room, with empty bookshelves and a number of couches and chairs.
“I-GUESS-I-WAS-PLANNING-FOR-THIS-TO-BE-A-READING-ROOM-BUT-I-NEVER-GOT-ENOUGH-BOOKS.” Asimos reflected, leading the taller orangeblood over to a couch and sitting down, then patting the seat next to him. “WHAT-DO-YOU-THINK?”
The long trip took a toll on his blackened lungs, and when they finally stopped, he ended up coughing a bit. Or a lot actually, the ash that stuck into his body came up with his coughing, plumes and smoke trails raised into the air as he went on. The orangeblood sitting down besides his moirail, waiting for his fit to be over before he cleared his throat, and took a look up and around to his surroundings.
[]< it is pretty nice up here, do you come up here a lo-
He was interrupted by a sharp, painful wheeze. The orangeblood going into another coughing fit, actual ash chips unpeeling from inside of his body. This painful asset making the taste of blood prominent in his mouth.
Asimos watched the smoke rise from his moirail’s mouth with, first, an almost impulsive sort of macabre interest, but then quickly afterwards concern. He watched the other closely, then, when he was seemingly done, gently leaning his head against the other. It wasn’t, though, and Asimos carefully looked up at the other, letting out a soft humming noise.
“LUMACE-ARE-YOU-OKAY?” he asked, gently rubbing the other’s back. “DO-YOU-REQUIRE-MEDICAL-ASSISTANCE?”
“WELL-THAT-MIGHT-COME-SOONER-THEN-YOU-THINK. BUT-SURE.”
Asimos shook his head slightly, relieving himself of the rest of his nervous jitters, and instead focused on trying to figure out which room was the comfiest in his hive. Finally deciding, he nodded.
“WE-COULD-HEAD-UP-TO-THE-ATRIUM. IT-GIVES-A-NICE-VIEW-OF-THE-OCEAN-AND-I-THINK-THERE’S-COUCHES-UP-THERE.”
He quirks a brow, what’d that mean? He shrugged it off, and smiled at the suggestion.
[]< oh alright, can we go up there now and sit around? i kinda wanna see what it looks like.
He smirks, then lets it fall, a weird, ache in his heart took over, and he felt guilty for sounding so demanding. So he tried to rectify himself.
[]< it that’s okay….

Asimos nodded, then turned the flames off and leaned gently against Lumace’s side, listening to him crunch into the charred bits and the flow of the ocean high above them. The question made him think for a bit, trying to even remember the last time he’d eaten food he’d chosen to eat, much less when he’d actually been alive.
He could really only remember getting scraps, and once what he thought might’ve been a body, but he quickly locked himself back out of those memories as an unhappy little shiver ran down his spine. Probably better to just make something up.
“I-LIKED-SALADS-I-GUESS. I-DON’T-REALLY-REMEMBER. IT’S-BEEN-A-WHILE.”
[]< oh… alright. maybe one day you can eat, and then i can eat a salad with you.
He wheezes quietly with laughter, it was an amusing thought. Asimos being able to eat with a robot body. The orangeblood pretty much unaware of how he even came into being inside of that body. Or how he was before he had that body, but he didn’t think about asking those questions. Even if he did, he probably wouldn’t want to ask. His reasons were his own.
[]< hey asimos…?
He pops another crisped chunk into his mouth.
[]< you think we can go sit down somewhere when im done eatin’…?
“WELL-THAT-MIGHT-COME-SOONER-THEN-YOU-THINK. BUT-SURE.”

“AHH-SIMPLE. ALRIGHT. HOW-ABOUT-FISH. WE-PRETTY-MUCH-HAVE-AN-EXCESS-OF-FISH-DOWN-HERE.”
Asimos nudged the dial with his foot again, letting the flames die down enough that he could grab the metal sheet, inspecting the hunks of food-shaped charcoal that remained. Shrugging, he slid them onto a plate and then handed the plate to Lumace.
“CAREFUL-IT’S-HOT.”
[]< ha ha sure i guess, as long as it’s fresh.
He looks at the charred pieces of what was once food on the sheet. Poking and sliding it around with his fake fingers before picking it up after awhile and popping them into his mouth. His teeth jagging into the blackened piece, enjoying what he had, and the company he was in.
[]< what was your favorite food, asimos…?
Asimos nodded, then turned the flames off and leaned gently against Lumace’s side, listening to him crunch into the charred bits and the flow of the ocean high above them. AI: I-BRIEFLY-CONSIDERED-MAKING-MY-NEW-BODY-FEMALE.
AI: BUT-IN-THE-END-I-DECIDED-NOT-TO.
Asimos carefully took the packages of food, eyeing them for a few seconds before nodding, opening them, and tossing them onto a metal sheet which he stuck into the flames. He watched them for a second to make sure they were properly burning before returning his gaze to Lumace.
“MY-BAD. IS-THERE-SOMETHING-I-SHOULD-STOCK-UP-ON?”
[]< uh… i guess simple stuff…? can’t eat nothin’ that’s got a lot of stuff in it… know what i mean?
He shrugs sheepishly at his moirail. A little smile growing on his lips, his attention momentarily diverting to the fire that flared. Momentarily transfixed before he forced his head to turn back to look at Asimos.
